Job overview

Do you have the vision, passion and rigour to lead Rushey Mead Academy on the next step of its journey?

Rushey Mead Academy is a joyous and successful school which challenges each member of its community to excel.  As The Mead Educational Trust (TMET) continues to evolve and grow, an exciting leadership opportunity within our lead academy has arisen – providing a career development opportunity like no other.

Supported by a well-resourced central team, our new leader will be creative and tenacious, with the capacity to build on incredibly strong foundations. Rushey Mead Academy has an established national profile for excellence in teaching, leadership and student outcomes – placing it in the top 1% of schools in the country and voted number one school in Leicestershire by the Real Schools Guide (2020).

As an inspirational leader, you will understand the art and science of teaching and be ambitious to develop further. A collaborative and visible practitioner, you will possess a strong moral purpose and act as a figurehead for our large and richly diverse learning community. You will empower, entrust, and elevate a highly skilled, dedicated and loyal staff team - providing the direction and vision required to secure continued success through collaborative working and fresh thinking.

There is no fixed blueprint as to where you might be on your own leadership journey – we’re all lifelong learners after all. To reflect this, we’re receptive to applicants wishing to join us as Principal or those seeking a developmental Head of School role (working closely with our Executive Principal, Gulbanu Kader).

Whatever your specific background, what is essential is your high expectations for all students. You will share our belief that an exceptional education is central to transforming lives and work to ensure every student is given the opportunity to succeed, regardless of background and starting point. Above all, you will make a positive difference by creating a vibrant, principled community of learners in pursuit of educational excellence and fulfilment for all.

If this sounds like you, please get in touch to discuss this career defining role in more detail.

Rushey Mead Academy strives to encourage all children to achieve to the best of their ability and believes that everyone has the potential to succeed. We offer a variety of study support clubs to encourage pupils’ academic, sporting and creative talents. The school also offers a wide range of trips and activities beyond the classroom. Our vision is to make a positive difference by creating a vibrant, principled community of learners in pursuit of educational excellence and fulfilment for all. This underpins everything we do and helps us to achieve the best outcomes for all students.

Rushey Mead Academy is characterised by high expectations, doing the simple things well, and the belief that all children can succeed regardless of their gender, background or ability.  We are therefore looking for team players who are prepared to work hard and go the extra mile so that we continue to provide an outstanding educational experience for all of our children.
