Job overview

Following 10 years of dedicated and successful leadership of Carey by Philip Grutzner, the Board of Carey Baptist Grammar School seeks to appoint the School’s next Principal to start in 2020.

We are passionate about offering a holistic, progressive education that enables each student to thrive and find their place within an affirming coeducational environment. Warm and supportive relationships are the hallmark of our vibrant community, with the emphasis on inclusion and social justice reflecting our Christian ethos. Our dedicated staff are core to delivering the best possible learning outcomes for our students.

As we move towards our centenary, Carey is flourishing. With 2500 students across our Junior, Middle and Senior Schools at Kew and our Junior School at Donvale, the last decade has seen growth in our numbers and the development of superb learning spaces.

Carey seeks an inspiring leader to work with our community in shaping Carey’s future educational vision; one that prepares our students for the future while staying true to our enduring values.

About Carey Baptist Grammar School

Founded in 1923, Carey is a co-educational, independent, Christian school for students from 3-year-old Kindergarten to Year 12.

At Carey, our students will always be at the centre of everything we do. Our open entry policy, commitment to maintaining a whole-school 50:50 gender ratio and inclusive ethos create an environment in which all of our students have the opportunity to flourish.

Based on three central pillars — a diverse and challenging student-centred curriculum, a broad range of co-curricular activities and an active, positive approach to wellbeing — a Carey education is about helping every student to be the best they can be in all areas of their life. We work in partnership with families to develop wise, independent, resilient and motivated young people who will engage with and lead in their local, national and global communities.
