Principal (L37 – L43)

A unique opportunity to lead an outstanding academy

A well-qualified, enthusiastic and inspirational leader is required to assume overall leadership responsibility at our Outstanding, world class academy.

This is a key role in our future development and the successful candidate, in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Principal i/c secondary education, will oversee all aspects of our work. The successful candidate will be an exceptional leader who can demonstrate passion, integrity and a strong record of successful practice. Our standards are high and we expect our new Principal to lead our continuing drive for excellence.

Our examination results are extremely impressive; the 2017 GCSE results placed The Morley Academy as the top performing school in Leeds for Grade 4 English & Mathematics and the validated whole cohort Progress 8 score is +0.64 indicating that students, on average, achieve two-thirds of a grade higher in each of their GCSE subjects than other students of the same starting point, nationally. This Progress 8 score places The Morley Academy amongst the very top performing schools in the country.

The GORSE Academies Trust has a strong moral compass and is determined to ensure that all students thrive within an academic curriculum with plentiful enrichment opportunities, no matter what their background is. The Morley Academy’s validated Progress 8 score of +0.77 for disadvantaged students is a powerful reflection of our collective passion for supporting our students in acquiring the ‘gift of choice’.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is keen to be at the heart of organisational change; The Morley Academy enjoys enormous respect across the whole educational community and is at the forefront of national developments around teaching, assessment and leadership.

The successful applicant will enjoy regular, personalised CPD opportunities within a culture which offers collaborative peer support and opportunities to review the academy's practice in a manner which is conducive to supporting colleagues in continuing to provide the very highest standards of education, care and guidance, so that all students are afforded the gift of a rigourous, academic education.

Recently accredited as a World Class School The Morley Academy is one of only 48 schools in the country to have the outcomes, attitudes and skills-sets of the student body recognised in this way.  We are extremely proud of this award and feel it captures our vision and ethos in a poignant manner.

We are a humble organisation that does not rest on its laurels.  We are always keen to listen and learn and we are eager to work in partnership with students and parents, carers and governors to continue to ensure our provision is the best it can possibly be.  As the founding member of the nationally renowned GORSE Academies Trust we benefit from expert partnership networks which provide a rich climate for discussion, debate, moderation and the sharing of resources.  Furthermore through the academy’s SCITT we benefit from working alongside and supporting the development of professionals new to teaching; we recognise the advantages that this offers and relish the opportunity to work collaboratively.

We are thrilled you are considering applying for a role with us; we can assure you if you do you will not be disappointed!
