A small rural school, Somercotes Academy was brought into the Tollbar Family of Academies as a school in Special Measures.  The current Principal has implemented significant improvements across the board, putting the school in a positive position with an upcoming Ofsted visit.   Ever growing in Academies and opportunities, our ethos focuses on delivering a first class education while raising aspirations and outcomes of all learners. Somercotes Academy is an over-subscribed 11-16 Academy, recently transformed by a £500,000 investment by the Trust.  Teachers at Somercotes enjoy a well-disciplined teaching environment, where their future career progression is always encouraged and supported. Development opportunities

Somercotes Academy prides itself in providing career progression opportunities for staff of all levels and experience. A number of pastoral and curriculum management roles are currently held by former NQTs, who began their teaching careers at the academy.   CPD is an integral part of our Vision, with regular training opportunities for all staff.

Our facilities

Staff benefit from a computer work room equipped with modern pc work stations and recently, a refurbishment of classrooms has included installation of new whiteboards and projectors, new teacher's workstations, new flooring, new windows and redecoration.  Investing in new facilities and resources is at the forefront of the academy's priorities.
