Are you a dynamic, enthusiastic, and experienced School Principal, Headteacher or Senior Leader, interested in a challenging new opportunity overseas?

If so, you will be interested in this fantastic opportunity to join our successful international school in Playa del Carmen on the Mayan Riviera, Mexico, as Principal from January 2023, or earlier. Fluency in Spanish and English are essential for this role.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced Principal, Head Teacher, or Senior Leader, to take over the leadership of this school. The position is available immediately but is expected to be filled no later than January 2023. A competitive remuneration package is available.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an intelligent, ambitious, and energetic Senior Leader, to impact and shape the delivery of international education at a high-quality education establishment. In the role of Principal, you will be responsible for working with the Orbital Leadership team and local stakeholders to drive the strategic direction of the school, in addition to overseeing the operational leadership of the senior leaders in the school.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record of outstanding senior educational leadership, preferably with experience in international schools.

About the school

The Britt Academy opened in 2015, quickly establishing itself as a recognised international school in

Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The school has 500 students on roll, from K to 12, delivering the Mexican national curriculum in both English and Spanish. Most of the students are Mexican, with a growing number of expatriate students from a wide range of nationalities.

The school takes a unique approach to delivering a broad-based curriculum making full use of an innovative, technologically advanced platform. The school is well resourced with investment across sporting facilities such as a shaded short course Olympic pool, soccer field and multi-purpose sports courts, enriching student experience and development.

You will be a visionary, strategic leader and a committed team player who demonstrates a collaborative approach to working with others. You should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with all the school’s stakeholders.

The ideal candidate for this exciting and challenging role will be able to demonstrate:

• Teaching qualifications

• A proven track record of achievement in senior leadership positions in all-through schools (4-18

years)

• Substantial experience of working in a multi-lingual multi-cultural setting

• A passion and a drive for excellence at all levels and developing teachers so that they deliver

quality teaching and learning experiences for their students.

• The ability to lead change and achieve sustained improvements through engagement with

stakeholders and working collaboratively with colleagues towards the achievement of common

goals

• Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Living and Working in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is a resort city located on the eastern coast of Mexico, of the Caribbean Sea in the state of Quintana Roo. The area is known for its beautiful rainforests, stunning beaches, and breath-taking coral reefs, as well as nearby Mayan archaeological sites.

The climate is perfect for much of the year, with average temperatures of around 25 °C, and a relaxed, laid back, welcoming culture. The city is located within close distance of Cancun International Airport, the second largest airport in Mexico with direct links to the UK, Europe, and the rest of the world.
