The Role

Our new Principal will raise standards further, grow and develop leadership capacity within the academy and support the community in realising their high expectations.

We’re looking for a leader who has:

  • the drive and passion to ensure significant improvements in the performance of all pupils;
  • an effective management style to encourage innovation and confidence amongst staff;
  • strong organisational skills and a relentless pursuit to instil strategies to improve behaviour and raise standards;
  • significant experience of managing others and the ability to be able to set clear goals for staff performance;
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • vision, passion and a proven record in school improvement and an enthusiasm for teaching;
  • high values and expectations of achievement and behaviour;
  • great teamwork and leadership skills;
  • values the contribution of parents and the wider community;
  • a team player who can lead and support work across our Trust .

Nottingham Academy Ransom Road is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school situated in Mapperley, Nottingham. The academy has a ‘schools within a school’ model and has two other sites: Greenwood Road and Sneinton Boulevard, together offering 3,780 places for students between the ages of 3-19. Ransom Road has a capacity for 900 students from Year 7 to Year 11.  

Nottingham Academy Ransom Road opened in 2009. The school belongs to Greenwood Academies Trust along with 33 other academies across the UK. The Ransom Road site has specialist science, technology and art blocks, along with a sports centre.

Nottingham Academy Ransom Road wants to ensure that all students gain the best possible education in a calming and nurturing learning environment. It wishes for students to work to the best of their ability and achieve excellence. The secondary school wishes to provide children with a varied curriculum and aims to offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities for them to get involved in, ranging from sports to and performing arts to homework clubs.
