Job overview

Principal

Inkersall Primary Academy - Chesterfield, Derbyshire

Salary: Leadership L14-20 & Benefits Including Private Medical/Health Care

January 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter for serving Principals

The Spencer Academies Trust is seeking to appoint a Principal for Inkersall Academy. This is a great opportunity to lead an academy in Derbyshire which is ambitious for success and part of an influential, high performing regional Trust of 20 schools, with a national reputation for excellence. We are a community orientated school serving a semi-rural hamlet, just off the M1 and ten minutes from the bustling town of Chesterfield. Our children are curious and enthusiastic.

The successful applicant will be an inspirational, highly effective leader and team builder, capable of taking our academy to higher levels of performance and success.  We are interested in motivated individuals who have a passion for, and knowledge of, designing and delivering a high quality, creative, knowledge based curriculum.

Our school was judged to require improvement when inspected in 2018 but recognised for its good leadership. We have improved the quality of teaching since then and are looking for someone who will lead us to a position of further strength, building on the good practice we already have and enabling us to rapidly improve those areas which are not yet of the quality we want for our children.

With a belief that there can be no ceiling on pupil achievement, the next Principal of Inkersall Academy will bring strategic direction and professional credibility, and most importantly, articulate and deliver a clear vision for the school and community for the future. The Principal will lead the Academy with the full support of a strong Academy and Trust Team, an effective Local Governing Body and a Board of Directors, all of whom have an unshakeable-shared belief that the children and young people of Inkersall deserve a world-class education.

The Spencer Academies Trust wish to attract the widest possible field of leaders to this position, and so applications from experienced Principals are welcome, as are applications from senior leaders who can demonstrate a strong track record of sustained performance and school improvement. Our Trust offers outstanding opportunities for professional development for staff at all levels (both participating and leading) amongst the 20 schools within the Trust but also through our acclaimed Teaching School, Research School and Maths hub. As a medium sized Trust of 20 schools (comprising primary, secondary and special) we have the capacity to provide strong networks for leaders. The primary team, of which the successful candidate will be part, is highly supportive and collegiate.
