Primary Objective: Taminmin College is an Independent Public School located in Darwin’s rural area. Taminmin College provides an exciting learning environment with flexible learning pathways for all students. The College provides comprehensive education from years 7 to 12 and includes a Vocational Education and Training section. Taminmin is also the only school in the Northern Territory with an agricultural facility, maintaining 150 hectares of a natural resource area where students undertake research and practical studies in conservation and land management. The school also has a 75 hectare working mixed produce farm in the areas of stock, horticulture and aquaculture. Students in the senior secondary years have a number of pathways to choose from; these include academic, and a Transition to Work program which provides pathways to training and employment with built in flexibility to achieve success. The High Achiever Centre for Excellence program flows on from the High Achiever programs from 7 to 9 for students of high academic ability from years 10 to 12. An Executive contract of up to 4 years may be offered.

OUR SCHOOLS
Teachers in the NT teach some 33 000 children in 153 government schools spread across 1.35 million square kilometres. Schools are grouped into six regions:
- Darwin: 28 schools
- Top End: 35 schools
- Big Rivers: 28 schools
- East Arnhem: 13 schools
- Barkly: 13 schools
- Central: 36 schools
Of the 153 government schools, 73% are located in remote and very remote areas, with 46% of the NT’s total student population attending those remote schools.
Some 44% of all our students in the NT speak a language other than English at home.
