Job overview

UTC Portsmouth opened in September 2017.   From a standing start, it has become recognised as the STEM centre of excellence for the area.  We now have over 400 students and are on track to expand to 600 in the coming years. It is clear that there is a shortage of young people with the appropriate skills and expertise to satisfy future needs and as a result, we are perfectly positioned to develop the skills and expertise in our young people such that they flourish in our global economy and live happy and successful lives. At the heart of our success is the active involvement of employer partners which vary from large international organisations to local SMEs.

We are looking to appoint a Principal who can set a bold vision for the next phase of our development and build on the foundations put in place by our founding Principal, Ciaran O’Dowda. We are ambitious and as we continue to grow, we will have further scope to be innovative.  We are ambitious for our students.  You will be backed by an exceptional staff group who are also ambitious and passionate about their work.

This is a broad role requiring both strategic vision as well as operational leadership skills of the highest quality.  You may be an existing Principal/Headteacher looking for a new challenge, or an ambitious deputy who feels ready to step up to the next level and enthused by our work.  Your high emotional intelligence and exceptional interpersonal skills will underpin your ability to establish working relationships with the broadest range of people and organisations - Trustees, sponsors, partners, stakeholders, Principals and Headteachers, the local community and most importantly young people.

Closing Date: Tuesday 31st December 2019 – 12.00 noon.
