Job overview

Doha College is one of the leading British International Schools in the world and one of the leading names in education in the Middle East. The school celebrated its fortieth anniversary in 2020 by moving to a brand new, state-of-the-art campus.

An experienced Principal is required for August 2023 to lead the school into the next stage of its development. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a major impact and to strengthen Doha College’s reputation in the region and internationally. The new Principal will ensure that the school’s vision, strategy, culture and approaches to teaching and learning are fit for purpose, relevant and aligned with its reputation for academic excellence and outstanding holistic education, and will guide the school community in refreshing its commitment to the mission, vision and values.

Doha College is a non-profit English National Curriculum school, currently with almost 2,200 students aged 3-18 and representing 74 nationalities. The school seeks to bring together the best of British school traditions and standards and leading international practice, with High Performance Learning now at the heart of the school’s teaching and learning. It has a six-form entry Primary School and a ten-form entry Secondary school. Doha College is proud of its achievements in sport and the arts as well as its academic excellence, reflecting its truly holistic commitment.

The school is guided by its vision, mission and values. Its aim is for students to develop a balanced understanding of the world around them, learning to be considerate of others and acquiring skills that will serve them well as global citizens. The school nurtures the ability to listen, consider other perspectives, form opinions and have the confidence to stand up and be heard.

The Doha College Board has appointed an experienced, well-regarded interim Principal to guide the school through the 2022-23 school year. The coming together of the whole school on the new Al Wajba campus, coinciding with the school’s emergence from the restrictions of the pandemic, means that there will be much to accomplish in the year, work that will pave the way for a new permanent Principal who will then be able to consider more deeply the school’s purpose, future strategy and the way it is defined by its culture and people. The dynamic environment of Qatar, the history and traditions of the school, the commitment of a high quality staff, and the new campus together provide a rare opportunity for the new Principal to refresh and redefine Doha College in a way that is meaningful and relevant for the world of today and into the future.

This position requires an experienced Principal who can be visionary but who also understands the need to be reassuringly present in a school, who has the credibility and gravitas to give confidence to all stakeholders but who can also shape a culture based on trust, autonomy, kindness and shared commitment. Above all, the next Principal must be able to embody the aspirations of an ambitious, forward-thinking, compassionate and relevant school that is confident in the impact it is able to make.

The position comes with an attractive remuneration and benefits package, and is available from August 2023.
