Outwood Grange Academies Trust, one of the largest multi academy trusts in England, is seeking to appoint an exceptional leader to the position of Principal at our outstanding academy Outwood Academy Bydales. The successful candidate will provide first class leadership sustaining the academy’s strong inclusive culture and high quality education which drives our vision to put students first, raise standards, and transform lives. Outwood Grange Family of Schools is nationally recognised as one of the highest performing multi-academy trusts in the country and one of the founding trusts of the National Institute of Teaching.

Outwood Academy Bydales is situated in the attractive coastal village of Marske by the Sea, where it provides an outstanding education. Located in Redcar and Cleveland in Teesside, Outwood Academy Bydales is easily accessible from Teesside, County Durham, Darlington and North Yorkshire. The academy’s facilities provide an excellent learning environment for our young people to thrive. We take great pride in providing a great school for our community. The academy has well-developed relationships with our local parishes, local councillors and our neighbouring primary schools.

Outcomes for students are strong; for example, the proportion of students achieving a grade 4 or better in English and mathematics is 86%, with 91% in English and 89% in mathematics at grade 4 or better in 2022. We are one of the top performing schools in Redcar and Cleveland. We were delighted to receive an outstanding judgement in our 2018 Ofsted inspection. Inspectors recognised that “Leaders are ambitious and share a common vision. They have high expectations of each other, staff and pupils.” We are proud of the high standards that our school culture promotes. Critically, the excellent focus and engagement of our students allows teachers to teach and students to succeed. This is an exciting time to take up the leadership of the school as it continues its outstanding journey under the current Ofsted framework. Your challenge will be to continually inspire staff and students to be exceptional in all they do.

Applications are welcomed from those seeking their first headship or from experienced Principals/Headteachers looking for a new challenge. The successful candidate will have excellent access to a full suite of continued professional development opportunities through the brand new National Institute of Teaching, through our leadership network across our family of schools and through expert support from our highly experienced executive leadership team.
