Job overview

Thomas Rotherham College is a successful sixth form college based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. We have a tradition of achievement and aim to provide a future of opportunity to all our students.

The College was established in 1967 as one of the first Sixth Form Colleges in England. The College has maintained abroad range of A levels, including three modern foreign languages, Music and Further Maths, while increasing its general vocational provision. We are proud of very positive student destinations and the wide range of enrichment activities we offer, including strong sporting traditions (with football and rugby academies linked to professional clubs) and vibrant performing and visual arts. The College is the hub institution in Rotherham for the University of Cambridge's HE+ scheme which provides curriculum extension opportunities and progression advice to able students.

The College is part of Inspire Trust. As a Trust we are committed to developing a set of shared values through every aspect of our work. These values are the development of respect, responsibility, resourcefulness, resilience, reflection, risk taking and relationships.

The new Principal will be arriving for an exciting new chapter in the College's history, as it looks to build on its existing strengths as part of the Trust. The Trust's vision is predicated on an intent for institutions to retain their own Headteacher / Principal, leadership team and local governing body, operating with a high degree of autonomy. Fundamentally, we want to ensure that all areas of the Trust continue to flourish and that each school or college continues to provide the best possible learning and care.

The post of Principal will become available following the retirement of the existing Principal in December 2017, who will retire after 11 years’ service with the College.

We are looking for an outstanding candidate who will join the Trust Executive and who, as Principal, will lead Thomas Rotherham College. Candidates must be able to evidence their success in leading and delivering outstanding educational provision for students and show a strong record of successful strategic institutional change and improvement, with a commitment to excellence and equality in everything that they do.

Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Trustees, the successful candidate will provide cross-college strategic leadership of staffing, teaching, learning and quality improvement, as well as specific developments to ensure that the learning, development and success of all our staff and students are consistently excellent.

Application forms and the recruitment pack are available on www.thomroth.ac.uk/vacancies

Completed applications should be submitted to clerk@thomroth.ac.uk by the closing date, which is Wednesday 24 January 2018 at 12 noon. PLEASE NOTE we do not accept CVs or CV attachments; all applicants must complete an application form in full.

The post is available from Easter 2018; however, the Trust will consider candidates who can start after Easter but by September 2018.

Inspire Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, other workers and volunteers to share this commitment.

Thomas Rotherham College is part of the Inspire Trust Multi Academy Trust, registered company number 8775996; contracts of employment will be with the Trust. Inspire Trust is an equal opportunities employer; we undertake to make any reasonable adjustments to a job or workplace to counteract any disadvantages a person with disabilities may face.
