Job overview

ARE YOU AN ASPIRING SECONDARY SENIOR LEADER LOOKING FOR YOUR FIRST PRINCIPALSHIP?

We are currently looking for highly motivated and inspirational leaders to join our 2019 Accelerated Principal programme. We want to hear from talented leaders who feel they are ready and considering their preparation for their first Principalship.

About our Accelerated Principal Programme

Succession planning forms a key part of our success and we believe we are at the forefront of developing the next generation of Principals. Aimed at current Deputy and Assistant Heads who are aspiring Principals, we offer an Accelerated Principal Programme designed to prepare Senior Leaders for their first Principalship. This is a 12 to 24 month fast track programme during which we invest in your knowledge and expertise through regular support, coaching and a wide range of professional development and training. The programme consists of two 12 month placements in contrasting Harris academies, and a bespoke mentoring and support plan in preparation for full Principalship with a Harris academy on completion of the programme.

If you are an experienced senior leader looking for to your first Principalship, then our fast track programme is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly collaborative Federation where we will prepare you to lead a school confidently and effectively, whilst offering a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best educational leaders in the country.

About Secondary Education at Harris:

The Harris Federation is the most successful large multi-academy trust across a number of key performance measures at secondary level. The average Progress 8 score for the Harris Federation in 2016/17 was +0.57 compared to -0.03 nationally. Put into context, this means that on average, students at Harris Federation academies achieve 4 grades better across their best 8 subjects, than other schools nationally.

The Harris Federation is the leading large Multi Academy Trust in the country for both primary and secondary education. We have an established reputation in transforming education in London and an unrivalled track record in achieving success through rapid school improvement.

Harris is a Federation and not a chain; each academy is different, reflecting the particular aspirations and leadership style of its Principal. Our vision is that Harris academies work collaboratively in sharing school improvement strategies, and support one another as part of the wider Harris Federation. We look for talented individuals who want to help transform education in London, and create exceptional places of learning.

The Harris Federation is a not-for-profit educational charity with almost 25 years of education experience in and around London. Our primary, secondary, all-through and sixth form academies have an international reputation for delivering a step change in education standards.

In joining a Harris Academy, you will be working with some of the country’s most exceptional teachers, support staff and leaders. There are frequent opportunities for internal exchange and promotion; our CPD is regularly described as Outstanding; and we have a package of staff benefits that rivals the most competitive of other professions.

Each Harris Academy is led and run by its senior leaders and has its own curriculum and way of doing things. What our Academies share, however, is a commitment to giving their children and teenagers an excellent education within a happy, caring and supportive environment.

There are Harris Academies in many different settings – inner city and suburban – but they are all within a maximum ninety minute commute from each other. This enables a highly collaborative structure, with on-call support from the Harris Federation.

You can find out more on our website (www.harrisfederation.org.uk) or by following us on Twitter (@HarrisFed).
