The academy (part of the Learning Community Trust) needs an ambitious leader who can build on the strong foundations within the school. The academy is well established and transferred to LCT on the 1st of February 2021, prior to this it was a single academy trust. The academy has many strengths, a great staff and provides a highly inclusive environment for young people with a wide range of Special Needs including PMLD, SLD and MLD.

The Trust was established in 2017 and is led by the CEO, Dr. Gill Eatough, who has over 20 years of experience in Headship. The Trust is committed to school improvement and collaboration to ensure we provide the best possible education for our young people. The successful candidate will have the benefit of significant support from the Trust.

Severndale is a large special school, located in Shrewsbury with just over 400 children and young people on roll and operates from the main site in Monkmoor. Severndale has two other sites, one for 30 MLD secondary age students and a sixth form provision at Shrewsbury College.

We are looking for a candidate who:

Severndale Specialist Academy caters for children and young people from 3-25 years old. We are a large special school with over 400 pupils and students on role.

We cater for a wide variety of needs from PMLD to MLD, on three separate sites; our main site, an MLD base at a mainstream high school, and provision at Shrewsbury College, our local FE College.

We have excellent facilities, a dedicated and well-trained staff group and very good links with a wide range of agencies. We are extremely well supported by our parents and carers.

In short Severndale Specialist Academy is a professionally challenging but hugely rewarding place to work.
