Huish Episcopi Academy is a large, non-selective, mixed secondary school for pupils aged 11-18 based in the heat of the Somerset Levels with a large catchment area. We are proud to be part of United Learning.  At Huish, we offer the full national curriculum to all students with opportunities for our pupils to engage in a broad range of additional activities in sports, music, and the creative arts. It is our aim to develop rounded individuals who are not only academically successful, but who also have opportunities to develop their character education, such as leadership, teamwork, and communication. Our sixth form provides pupils with aspirational courses that allows them to pursue university places or employment after school. The work within school is underpinned by our values of Respect, Ambition and Resilience.

Systems within school focus on allowing disruption-free teaching with the notion of continuous improvement underpinning all we do. We work with colleagues to develop as reflective practitioners, utilising shared best practice and evidence-based teaching and learning initiatives.  Our in-house CPD is extensive and high quality and compliments numerous external CPD opportunities within United Learning and through nationally recognised training and qualifications.

Pastoral care is superb, with a highly trained team that are morally driven and extremely effective.  We encourage students to develop their skills through the provision of educational opportunities which enable young minds to play a part in creating a future which has opportunities for all and encourages aspiration and determination.

United Learning

United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer life-changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum, and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff's wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone'.

United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check.

United Learning values diversity and inclusion and is committed to creating and sustaining a more diverse workforce. We welcome applications from professionals of minority ethnic origin and from majority ethnic professionals who share our commitment to inclusion and diversity.
