Madeley High School is an 11-16 comprehensive academy which opened in 1957. The school has an excellent reputation locally and is regularly oversubscribed. We currently have approximately 640 pupils, 38 teaching staff, 22 support staff and a small team of lunchtime supervisors and catering staff. The school serves a large rural area west of Newcastle under Lyme with some 70% of pupils being drawn from the wards of Madeley, Loggerheads and Whitmore. Keele University campus falls within our catchment area.

About Madeley High School
We are a smaller than average 11-16 comprehensive school in the centre of Madeley village. The school serves a very large area lying to the west of Newcastle including Keele, Betley, Whitmore, Baldwins Gate, Aston, Ashley and Loggerheads as well as Madeley itself. Many of the children travel to school by bus. The area is mainly rural but also contains a number of residential areas for families who work in the Potteries, Newcastle, Crewe or Keele University. The school was originally opened in 1957. We now have over 640 pupils with a teaching staff of 38, 24 support staff and a team of caterers and cleaners. The school has an excellent reputation within the local community and is regularly oversubscribed. We were inspected by OFSTED in January 2013. The overall judgment was ‘Good’ with inspectors identifying many outstanding features including the behaviour and safety of our pupils. We now aim to become outstanding.
