Job overview

Opportunities for aspiring leaders to progress in special education don't come up very often. You may be a vice or deputy principal looking for a first headship or an experienced principal considering your next move and if you are keen to join an established, well respected multi academy trust, this one may interest you.  We have a rare vacancy for an influential leader with a successful track record to join us as principal at Thomas Wolsey Ormiston Academy - a special school in Suffolk for children aged 3 to 16.

About the organisation:

This is an incredible opportunity for an exceptional professional with a proven track record of leading teams to achieve sustained school improvement to make a difference and join the Ormiston Academies Trust  (OAT) family.  OAT is one of the largest not-for-profit MAT's in England with almost 5,000 staff and 30,000 students. We have been around since 2009 making us one of the longest established trusts. Our mission is to be the Trust that makes the biggest difference both inside and outside the classroom.

Our vision is for all young people to have access to the highest academic, social and practical skills required to achieve their full potential, whether going on to study at a leading university or entering the world of work. We are determined to become the trust that makes the biggest difference, both inside and outside the classroom.

We are continuing to improve outcomes for our students despite being largely in areas of historic academic underachievement. Our expectations are high and we want the very best professional educators to join us to ensure the very best outcomes for our young people.

We are a values-led organisation, and it is our aim that we continually challenge ourselves to adhere to the spirit of our values.

Anyone can excel: you don’t have to be exceptionally bright or naturally gifted in order to excel at something. We know hard work, determination and perseverance pay off.

Enjoy the challenge: just because something might be hard, it doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. We know it’s okay to face setbacks too – they can make you stronger.

Share what is best: if you’ve done something or created something others would benefit from seeing or having, you should share it. We know our schools keep getting better when we all share what is best.

Be inclusive: every child and adult should respect and accept that difference is normal, that everyone should be welcomed and included.

About the job:

The overall purpose of the role is to develop and sustain exceptional educational provision, which will transform the educational and future life opportunities of all pupils at Thomas Wolsey Ormiston Academy. This role  reports into an established  director of primary and SEND, who will provide  support, challenge and guidance.  The successful candidate will work collaboratively with primary and special principals across the Trust  to secure the very best outcomes for the pupils they serve, and you will be an important part of this very supportive network.

About you:

You are an exceptional leader with a passion for special education.  Naturally, you will be supportive of the aims of OAT and believe in our values, vision and mission.

In return, we will offer you an extremely supportive working environment and commitment to your continued professional development. In addition to a competitive salary, the remuneration package offered includes PHI and membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.
