We are looking for a highly-skilled Principal Teacher who is passionate about improving life chances for all through a professional commitment to leading change and improvement that ensures positives outcomes for our children and young people. As a principal teacher in Fife you will be responsible for supporting the senior leadership team by contributing to the strategic vision for the school, working with a wide range of stakeholders to implement and pursue the objectives set in policies, and for contributing to the development of a self-improving system across the education community.
It is expected that the PTC will provide strong leadership. The PTC will develop a vision for change which leads to improvements for learners based on shared school values and robust evaluation of evidence of current practice and outcomes. The PTC will be expected to mobilise, enable and support staff to develop and follow-through on strategies for achieving change. The PTC will provide effective management through operational implementation and maintenance of the practices and systems required to achieve change.
The PTC is responsible for leading and managing support for pupils (behaviour, learning & nurture) across the school in particular for those with additional support needs with a strong focus on supporting pupils towards the highest possible levels of attainment and achievement.
The PTC is responsible for the line-management of all staff within the faculty to maximise levels of attainment and achievement for all pupils. At some time in the future, following consultation, the post remit and responsibilities may change in-line with school, local and national priorities.
The post-holder will be a proactive member of the Middle Leadership Team (MLT) and the post will incorporate whole school responsibilities and duties. These will relate principally to curriculum development, learning and teaching, behaviour management, quality improvement through self-evaluation and supporting whole school initiatives.
The post-holder will be aware of current educational research and effective pedagogical practice to maximise the learning experience and will demonstrate ability to ensure that policies are implemented successfully.
The post-holder will make an effective contribution to achievement of the four capacities and the National Improvement Framework (NIF) Priorities:
Improvement in attainment, particularly in literacy and numeracy
Closing the attainment gap between the most and least disadvantaged children and young people
Improvement in children and young people's health and wellbeing
Improvement in employability skills and sustained, positive school-leaver destinations for all young people

Whole School Responsibilities
Assist with the maintenance of whole school discipline in all areas of the school campus to ensure good order within the school.
Support the development of extra curricular activities and aspects of the wider life and work of the school.
Qualification, Registration and Skill Requirements
You are required to have high levels of interpersonal skills and abilities which will enable you to work as a member of the senior leadership team to lead and manage school improvement, both at strategic and operational levels, to ensure continuous improvement.
You are required to demonstrate a commitment to your own professional learning as a practitioner through career-long professional learning activity and to be able to show how this has impacted on your practice.
Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
You are required to be fully registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) and to model all behaviour expected of a teacher in Scotland in line with the relevant Professional Standards.
The relevant legislation on the management of denominational schools in Scotland states: "A teacher appointed to any post on the staff of any such school by the education authority. . . shall be required to be approved as regards religious belief and character by representatives of the church or denominational body in whose interest the school has been conducted."
