Job overview

We are a Danish family looking to employ a qualified Primary Teacher for the second and third trimester (January to July 2020), to teach our 7-year old daughter at our home on a plantation in the Malaysian countryside, two hours north of Kuala Lumpur.

Our daughter is already enrolled at an international school in KL, where she will be studying from August 2019 to January 2020. She will continue with the Y3 British curriculum as provided by the school, and there will be close communication with the school.

Job Description

To work closely with teaching staff at the international school in KL, ensuring a seamless transition from beginning to end.

To deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, following the international school’s planning where appropriate, as well as using the unique environment on the plantation to enrich learning opportunities and plan tailored lessons.

Use a range of assessment tools and strategies to ensure planning is specifically tailored in order to close gaps, address misconceptions and sufficiently challenge.

Person Specification

The candidate must be a British Citizen and hold a primary teaching qualification (degree or PGCE). Unfortunately this post is not suitable for NQTs.

He/She must be able to teach all subjects within the British curriculum, including sports and religion. Recent experience teaching the Year 3 curriculum is desirable, as well having a key interest in the teaching of Mathematics.

He/She must be proactive and driven, reliable and thorough and have a positive perspective on life. As it will be only the Teacher and our daughter in the classroom, the candidate needs to be able to make teaching fun, creative and down to earth, whilst still upholding the professional standards of a conventional school.

As we are living in the countryside, it will be important that the candidate can be comfortable and independent in a tranquil environment. He or she must be a person who enjoys the outdoors, sports, different cultural experiences in a multiracial society and who upholds good moral values.

The candidate must possess an up-to-date enhanced DBS check.

Housing and Remuneration

Housing in the beautiful environment on the plantation will be provided for as well as a fair remuneration package, including a car at disposal.

Application details

The start date for the full-time teaching position will be January 4th, 2020.
Please ensure that an up-to-date cover letter, CV (including contact details of two references) and a recent photograph are enclosed with your application. The deadline for sending an application to gurujenda@outlook.com is September 16th, 2019, and interviews via Skype will be held before end of September.
