About the Programme Design Manager - Early Years role:

The purpose of this role is to lead the development, design and piloting of a new programme for 4 and 5 year olds. Marrying your expertise in early years youth work design and pedagogy, the lived experience and enthusiasm of our volunteers and over a hundred years of experience in delivering skills for life, you will be responsible for developing our 4 – 6 year olds Programme so that it is impactful, scalable and sustainable.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead the development of the organisation’s 4 and 5 year old provision, supporting a programme design function that designs, tests, implements and evaluates.Strive to scale and sustain the provision.
  • Maintain a close understanding of external policy developments and seek to influence these where they are central to the organisation’s strategic ambitions (particularly in relation to the Early Years Programme Design).
  • Work with partners from the voluntary sector, public sector and business community to enrich and enhance the organisation’s impact on young people and communities, ensuring that constructive relationships exist to enable effective communication with partners.
  • Support the development of a culture across the Strategy Delivery (Programme) team by setting the right context with positive incentives, stretching objectives, clear roles and a complete understanding of the organisation’s strategy and theory of change.
  • Support the elimination of distracting complexity for colleagues at the same time as making sure that there is a culture of discipline and volunteer empowerment so that processes that are critical to the organisation are followed
  • Design/curate programme content for Early Years delivery pilots and (should they be successful) roll out

What we are looking for in our Programme Design Manager - Early Years:

  • Experience of, and in depth knowledge in, the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and working in disadvantaged communities, understanding the challenges and opportunities this brings.
  • Demonstrable background in the design and delivery of activities related to the development and learning of young people. This is likely to include knowledge of youth work pedagogy and theory, design tools and methods.
  • Strong network within the youth policy, practice or funding sectors.
  • Experience of effectively developing high performing teams whilst instilling a strong sense of accountability and empowerment in a values based culture.
  • Demonstrable track record of impactful programme design, innovation, quality assurance and measurement aligned to organisational goals, preferably in a non-formal education setting and at a regional or national level.
  • Education, training and continual professional development relevant to the scope of responsibilities of the Programme Design Manager role.
  • A general understanding or basic experience of structuring funded projects and embedding evaluation/impact measurement within programmes so you can contribute to the work of the wider team.
