Exeter CollegeExeter

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Exeter College to train and teach our adult learners and apprentices within our digital and data curriculum team. Exeter College is an Ofsted outstanding college and consistently rated in the top 10 FE Colleges in the UK by NICDEX. The College is part of the South West Institute of Technology and the Digital and Data Curriculum Team are now situated in the state of the art digital and data centre on its Hele Road campus.

Our teaching contracts include at least 40 days holiday plus 2 weeks over the Christmas break, excellent pension scheme (Teachers Pension Scheme, TPS), regular training and upskilling across the College for teaching skills, and knowledge enhancement opportunities within our department. Feedback from staff has regularly referenced the positive relationships with other staff and that is certainly the case in our team who are friendly, supportive, and welcoming.

We currently deliver a range of programmes lasting from 12 weeks to several years. Short courses support development and upskilling with digital skills as well as professional development for those in careers in digital and data related areas. Alternatively our longer programmes offer more in depth training for those changing job role and progressing onwards. These range from Level 2 (GCSE equivalent), through multiple Level 3 and 4 options and then up to Level 6 (Undergraduate). Our awarding organisations include Pearson, the British Computing Society (BCS), and the University of Exeter.

We are looking for candidates who have experience in delivering and leading on BTEC courses and digital/data related courses in areas such as data analytics, marketing, cyber security, business statistics insights, and digital productivity skills. Additionally, we welcome applications from those who have experience or the knowledge required to teach Statistics or IT programmes at A-level equivalent or higher levels, including certified or technical qualifications (eg Level 3 Core Mathematics or BTEC programmes). As the team grows we are seeking to create a balance within the department between qualified teachers who may have come from Mathematics, IT, or Computer Science teaching previously with those who have industry experience who are wishing to complete teacher training.

You will be joining Exeter College’s Professional and Adult Learning faculty, which is active in working with employers and the local community to deliver outstanding teaching, training and assessment. The ideal candidate will be dynamic, a good communicator and able to support an outstanding learning experience and qualifications and training to support career change and progression.
