Job overview

Vision for Education are looking to recruit an outstanding Programme Leader for the undergraduate Games Technologies courses and teach on a portfolio of modules within this subject area.

Applicants will preferably hold a qualification in a software or games development field and possess a teaching qualification, however assistance will be given to attain a teaching qualification. Your teaching responsibilities would look to draw on specialist skills such as; Unity API, C# / Java / C++ programming experience, knowledge of Object Orientated Programming and may include areas such as experience with Monogame, Cocos2D, Multiplayer Games, Android API's etc.

The successful candidate should have industry experience with knowledge of software development and/or games technologies. You will be able to teach across a range of undergraduate modules and motivate students, as well as contributing specialist interests in gaming or development to the undergraduate curriculum. Linking the curriculum to employability is a central focus of the School. The post holder will be expected to support student employability and develop outlets for student work. As a specialist in this field, the post holder will further develop the curriculum in line with accreditation requirements. Some experience of teaching and module or course leadership in Higher Education is preferable.

You ought to be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of innovative teaching strategies appropriate to this subject area. You will also have games or development industry experience that informs your teaching practice. The role has responsibility to lead the programme teaching team in delivering a high quality learning experience that meets key performance indicators.

Crucially, you will be passionate about creativity and providing outstanding training and learning for the gaming practitioners of tomorrow, as part of a wider Creative and Digital Industries department, and with a full understanding of the fast pace and vital importance of developing these digital skills. Experience of engagement with external groups, the development of commercial and/or co-curricular activities would also be desirable.

The position is will start ASAP and has the potential to become permanent.

The salary for this position will be between £27 and £32 per hour depending on experience. NQT’s and experienced teachers are welcome and encouraged to apply.
