Job overview

An exciting opportunity to join The Cabot Learning Federation at Bristol Metropolitan Academy as Programme Leader of Geography.

Do you want a career that challenges and changes you? Do you want to see the difference you make every day and won’t settle for anything less than your best?

Our school is not an easy option - it is a place where students and staff work hard to achieve exceptionally well. In the past we have been the most improved school in the country, as well as later achieving value added scores that placed us third in the country over all and have been recognised by Ofsted for bucking the trend with a strong Key Stage 3 curriculum and a small pupil premium gap.

Our school has so much more to achieve, and with exceptional new team members, we can continue to serve our community and that of East Central Bristol so that families who were once reluctant to use their local school can instead continue to be proud of it.

If you have the work ethic, talent and drive to match our ambitions and want to work in an environment that nurtures your potential and takes you seriously, come to experience our school at interview.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic middle leader to help further improve the Geography department at Bristol Metropolitan Academy. This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful team of Programme Leaders who are helping to reshape the opportunities for students in their subjects and across the Academy.

To be successful, you will have:

  • experience of teaching Geography at Key Stages 3 and 4;
  • the capacity to raise attainment through motivating and inspiring students;
  • the ability and desire to enhance our culture of high expectations and achievement within the department and the school.

Working in partnership with the Team Leader of Discovery Zone, you will evaluate the effectiveness of learning and teaching and progress towards targets in your department.

Bristol Metropolitan Academy benefits from being part of a leading Multi-Academy Trust, the Cabot Learning Federation. The Federation currently sponsors 15 academies: six primary academies, seven mainstream secondary academies, an all-through academy and a Studio School. In addition, the CLF has a discrete Post 16 provision, located across six of our sites in the East Bristol / South Gloucestershire area, and a primary and a secondary re-engagement centre serving the same area. Together we educate 8000 children between the ages of 3 and 19.

The Federation is a major Teaching School in the South West and also a National Maths Hub.

Join us and you will benefit not only from intensive CPD within our school but also across the Cabot Learning Federation.

The checks will also include an enhanced DBS check and a further check against the appropriate barred list.
