Job overview

Contract: Permanent

We have an opportunity to join the science team in the Faculty of Maths and Science. The faculty was awarded grade 1 in the Ofsted inspection in 2014 and is internally assessed as grade 1. We deliver a range of maths and science courses at levels two and three and boast excellent value added and success rates. Within Level 3 biology and chemistry we deliver AS and A level sciences and IB, Access to HE (Healthcare and Science routes) and elements of the BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science. This role arises particularly to teach on the Access to H.E. programme, with learners aged 19+ following a level 3 course, although teaching 16-19 year olds at levels 2 and 3 is also possible. The successful applicant would also be a personal tutor to a group of Access students. The faculty is based in new purpose-built facilities in the Maths and Science Centre where you will be based for lab work.

The Access team is experienced, supportive and has a strong commitment to sharing ideas and resources. You will be mentored and supported by the Access Coordinator and working alongside other experienced biology and chemistry specialists. The Programme Leader aspect of the role involves taking responsibility for an element of the work of the team, for example updating SoW and assignments for specific units on the course, but overall responsibility sits with the coordinator. You will also have a faculty-based Learning Lead. Hence this role could be suitable for someone newly qualified or someone wishing to broaden their experience.

We are seeking to appoint the candidate with the greatest ability, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in the classroom. If you fit the bill and teach biology or chemistry, your application will be welcome! Please specify your skill set in the supporting statement of the online application process.

Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.

We do not accept CV’s, no agencies please.

Exeter College is committed to promoting equality of opportunity and access for all, irrespective of age, background, race, gender, religion, ability, disability or sexuality. We welcome applications for employment from the whole community.

To apply for this post please visit our website at www.exe-coll.ac.uk.
