Progress Leader - ESOL

0.5 Contract (17.5hrs) Term Time Only


 We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational individual to support students during their time here at the City of Liverpool College. 


 You will do this by


  • ensuring they are making progress and achieve their targets and personal goals,
  • help support them in their progression to higher levels of study or employment/apprenticeships
  • to be the advocate for the student. 

 


The successful candidate will join a growing team of Progress Leaders working with a range of different levels of student and different curriculum areas.  They will need to be focused on ensuring students are supported to gain the skills & expertise to forge a path to progress to their next steps.

The role will require you manage a caseload of students from ESOL background.  You will be expected to have excellent communication skills and effectively plan and deliver a tutorial curriculum to meet the needs of the students.  You will need to be able to track students’ progress and have excellent time management and organisational skills. 

You will need to have excellent IT and written communication skills.  An awareness of University applications and report writing would be desirable.  

A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.

Opened in 1992 after being formed from a number of colleges in the city we now have 5 locations situated in the heart of Liverpool. Currently the college serves more than a third of all 16-18 year olds in Liverpool, and educates almost 12,000 learners a year. In 2018 the college achieved a pass rate of 99.6% beating the national average of 97.6% for a-level results. Within this year as well we had a 100% pass rate in modern languages.

However, the college itself is not just facts and figures. The mission statement of provide high quality skills and education by delivering opportunities for growth to all people and business of the Liverpool City region, shows inclusivity and a community understanding. The ease in which to get here helps quite a lot to. Be it driving, buses, trains or even a ferry you are never short of options. 

Being that working/living in Liverpool does offer a wide range of experiences to have. Historical buildings like the Bombed out church, Royal court theatre house or even a hidden gem like the Bluecoat School lane which boasts being the oldest building in Liverpool. The Beatles museum is a popular place to explore the band and possible find bits out about them you might not have known. Or if just unwinding and relaxing there are multiple pubs/bars, restaurants, and comedy nights to enjoy.

That’s not to say our college doesn’t offer its own fair share of experiences. Within the 5 locations the following are available;
