Job overview

The Governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding middle leader to drive forward further improvements in our Sixth Form. We encourage applications from individuals who share our values whether they come from a faith or non-faith background.

You will have the drive and enthusiasm to be able to lead staff and students in our relatively small and very unique Sixth Form to ensure the highest possible student outcomes. Numbers are rising in the Sixth Form and the post also provides an opportunity for the successful applicant to implement strategies to further improve recruitment. We currently have around 90 pupils in our Sixth Form and expect to see this number increase significantly as performance at GCSE continues to improve. Students speak very highly of our Sixth Form provision and value the fact that they are treated as individuals and have excellent relationships with their teachers. The vast majority of students progress to university at the end of Year 13.

This post represents an excellent opportunity for an outstanding teacher seeking an initial move into middle leadership or for a more experienced teacher wishing to adopt a new role. The ability to teach across KS3 – 5 in the following subject areas would be an advantage: RE, Design and Technology, English and French. Applications from teachers from another subject backgrounds are, however, still very welcome.

We are an 11-18 Catholic comprehensive school serving Burton on Trent and the surrounding community. We are continuously developing and improving the school which has Specialist Sports College status and are committed to providing stimulating, challenging and high quality teaching and learning. We have a wide range of extra-curricular activities in school and the successful applicant will be expected to play a major part in the broader life of the school.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and therefore the appointment for this post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Please contact the school or visit our website at www.robertsutton.staffs.sch.uk for further details and an application form.

Deadline for receipt of applications: Midday Thursday 11th May
Interview date: Tuesday 16th May
