New College Doncaster will open in September with 400-450 Year 12 students, growing to over 1000 students by September 2019. This is an exciting new venture, creating a sister college to the well-established New College Pontefract, rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, replicating its ethos, values and practices. The two colleges will work closely, presenting exciting opportunities for collaboration, support, development and progression.
Working in a new campus, you will join a focused and driven team, committed to providing the highest standards of education for young people, in a challenging but supportive learning environment. New College Doncaster will primarily deliver A Levels, alongside a number of Level 3 BTEC qualifications.
We are initially seeking to appoint two Progress Tutors and a Senior Progress Tutor for September 2017. Each post holder appointed for September 2017 will have a caseload of tutor groups in addition to a specific additional area of responsibility: Safeguarding / Careers and UCAS / Work Experience and Employability.
The team of Progress Tutors is central to the college’s change journey, and to the establishment and maintenance of a culture of hard work, success, resilience and target achievement. Progress Tutors will work in a diverse range of ways with students including goal-setting, monitoring achievement and attendance and motivational coaching. They will challenge underperformance and build self-esteem and confidence though a rapport based on trust, honesty and respect. They will be expected to liaise with parents, subject teachers, and curriculum leaders.
