The post of  PSHE Coordinator is an important role within the School. It offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious teacher of PSHE to develop and enhance the provision of PSHE and Relationships and Sex Education across the three sites of The Southover Partnership School. 

PSHE is a well-established and integral part of the school curriculum. The aims of the Department are to allow pupils the opportunity to express their personal opinions and feelings, whilst encouraging them to listen to and respect the opinions and feelings of others. The study of PSHE promotes the general progress and wellbeing of individual pupils and the community as a whole and reflects the value and ethos of the School. PSHE is taught throughout the School through dedicated timetabled lessons.

 Main Duties:  

To:- 

  • develop, lead and help deliver a creative and inspirational PSHE programme for pupils in all year groups and across all three sites 
  • ensure PSHE and RSE statutory guidance is being met and effectively delivered throughout the School.  
  • confidently teach PSHE to all year groups.  
  • liaise with Heads of school regarding the development and delivery of PSHE. 
  • train staff to be able to effectively deliver PSHE in their subject area.   
  • ensure that the work of the Department is in line with the School’s strategic plan.   
  • contribute to the Whole School PSHE and RSE policy and development as appropriate. 

Department strategic direction, leadership and management:   

  • supporting the vision, ethos and aims of the school through the work of the department.  
  • Manage the budget for the Department and review and develop the Department resources.  

Teaching: 

To:- 

  • teach groups across the age and ability range  
  • ensure that pupils are taught according to their individual needs and abilities, following the syllabus and programmes of study   
  • employ teaching strategies that engender enthusiasm and raises the aspirations of all pupils. 

 Wider School Contribution

To:-  

  • contribute to the development of the curriculum and learning materials within the department and the School as a whole.  
  • Promote of Safeguarding and welfare of children and young persons within the role
