We are seeking an experienced and passionate teacher to deliver Personal, Social, Health, Relationships & Sex Education, preparing and delivering an outstanding, engaging and varied curriculum to pupils in Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. You will ensure that the curriculum provides context and is linked to the real world, as well as the TCES LIFE (Leadership / Independence / Further Options / Employability) skills curriculum.

TCES is an independent social enterprise. providing specialist therapeutic education based in London. We support exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism, social emotional and mental health needs and associated disorders. Most of them will have experienced multiple placement breakdowns and significant trauma, often resulting in behaviour that challenges. On average pupils will have been excluded from other provisions up to three times before reaching us and had significant periods out of education.

TCES pupils learn at one of our two independent day schools, within our Create or our Home Learning service; Create in the Community and Create Learning Primary support our most complex and vulnerable pupils, with TCES East London and TCES North West London supporting those who are able to access learning within a school environment. When they are ready, we aim for pupils to step down from Create into one of our main schools or TCES Sixth Form.

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are: 

  • Be a Qualified Teacher (holding QTS, QTLS or equivalent).
  • Substantial experience of supporting neurodiverse children, or with Autism (ASC) and/or Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH) and an understanding of potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour. 
  • Experience of managing challenging behaviour, offering a calm response and always promoting de-escalation and emotional regulation. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Demonstrable experience as an outstanding teacher, role modelling best practice.
  • Resilient, committed, and a hard worker - able to keep going in the face of adversity and never giving up.
