Job overview

Team: Therapeutic Services

Location: Wheatley, Oxfordshire

We are looking for a qualified Educational or Clinical Psychologist to join our Clinical team. Join us and help change young lives for the better, at our outstanding schools and homes.

This role is Part-time - Term Time only (22.2 hours per week).

At Witherslack Group, we’re committed to helping children and young people with complex, challenging needs. Across our independent schools and homes, we offer expert care and first-rate facilities, all designed to support and speed the development of our young people. As a Psychologist, you’ll play a big part in our work and our outcomes for young people. It’s a highly rewarding role where your skills can make a huge difference – as you help us create brighter futures.

The role

As part of our dedicated team, you’ll provide specialist psychological support for our pupils and residents. The first step is to carry out expert assessments, using information from a variety of sources and assessment tools. You’ll then create plans for specialist psychological interventions. This may be for an individual, group, care staff or families. Using evidence-based practice, it is up to you to decide what is appropriate and will deliver the best results. Key will be working as part of the team around the child and enabling positive outcomes. That means developing programs with the team and families and reporting to placing authorities social services. Therefore, you’ll need to be empathetic – but also resilient when dealing with young people who may at times exhibit very challenging behaviour.

There is also a strong internal component to this role. You’ll be using your experience to support and develop the skills of the wider team, including our Assistant Psychologists and our Support Workers. In addition you’ll provide training wherever required and will develop Witherslack Group policies.

Your profile

HCPC-registered, you have a degree (or equivalent) in Psychology. You’re eligible for graduate BPS membership and have a recognised qualification in Educational or Clinical Psychology. With this background, you’ll know how to perform high quality psychological assessments. To be considered, you must have worked with children with SEMH and/or ASD needs before. It’s vital you understand the challenges and share the Witherslack ethos of offering the very highest standards of care. It’s also important that you’re articulate and a great team worker, with strong communication skills and an organised approach.

For an informal discussion about the role, or to understand our salary packages and how they compare to the Soulbury Scale, please contact Waveney Patel on 07918 581509.

Interview Date: Tuesday, 16 November 2021

Closing date: Monday, 08 November 2021, 23:59

The Witherslack Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
