Oundle School is one of the country’s leading HMC co-educational boarding and day schools, and enjoys a strong reputation for academic excellence supported by outstanding pastoral care.
To start September 2018, we are seeking an exceptional Teacher of Psychology to develop and inspire our pupils, and who is able to participate in and contribute to the life of the School as a whole. In return the School is committed to helping you develop further as a teacher by giving you access to its generous professional development budget.
There are currently three teachers in this well supported and expanding department. Pupils of all academic ability can study Psychology in the Sixth Form, and each year around 45 pupils opt for this subject at A level. The department successfully supports around a third of these pupils, annually, as they prepare to read Psychology or related subjects at universities, including Oxbridge.
The department follows the AQA specification. Assessment in the Lower Sixth is internal, given the nature of the linear course.
The department offers a wide range of opportunities for pupils to develop their knowledge of and interest in Psychology. Alongside a well-stocked library, the department regularly invites speakers from a variety of research and professional backgrounds. Forum groups are formed in response to these lectures, with discussions led by pupils. There are strong links with other departments in the School and cross-curricular activities are widely encouraged. The department offers an annual trip or Psychology-focused day for pupils.
