The Oratory Preparatory School (OPS) is a Roman Catholic day and boarding school for boys and girls from 2 to 13. The school welcomes both staff and pupils of other denominations and faiths. There are around 400 pupils in the school, 110 of them in the Pre-Prep Department and 290 in the Prep school.  The school is set in 60 acres of beautiful countryside on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, nine miles north of Reading.  

The OPS aims to provide the best possible education for its pupils.  Staff are expected to maintain a very high standard of teaching and are provided with every support from the Headmaster and the Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate must be willing to contribute fully to the life of the school and to participate in such duties as are customary for staff at the OPS.   

The OPS require a part time music teacher to teach our pupils in our wonderful Music Department.  The department has excellent facilities; seven individual teaching or practice rooms and two large rooms including a suite of IMacs for composition and editing and a recording studio and a rehearsal room. We have a full complement of instruments for children who start to learn individually along with class sets of violins and clarinets. Our Senior Ensembles: Orchestra, Jazz Band and Choristers are fed from three more choirs and single family training groups.    

The successful applicant will:   

• have a passion for music and a desire to share this with the pupils 

• enjoy working with a large set of colleagues, both music peris and academic staff 

• possess good communication and problem solving skills 

• have good experience in IT and administration  

• Qualified Teacher Status would be an advantage
