Pupil Premium Support Officer
37 hours per week – Term Time only
8.00 to 4.00 including unpaid break.
Grade 6 - £17,751.43 per annum (Actual starting salary for days and hours worked)

The Government provides “Pupil Premium” funding to all schools aiming to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities, and to close the gaps between them and their peers.
Do you have the skills, determination and resilience to intervene and achieve change for these pupils?
Can you provide effective, targeted and personalised support for all Pupil Premium pupils, removing barriers to under achievement, and enabling sustained and successful engagement in their education?
Can you work with the pupils, their families, teachers, support staff, and external agencies in raising aspirations and achievement, to attain excellent outcomes?
Can you act as a “champion” for these pupils with the aim of improving outcomes with a focus on attendance of these pupils.

About Downlands Community School
Headteacher - Mark Wignall
Downlands Community School is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary for students aged 11-16 in Hassocks, West Sussex at the foot of the beautiful South Downs, 6 miles north of Brighton. It is a state community school with a governing body of 15 volunteers. The school currently provides 1,200 secondary places when fully subscribed.
The school has undergone extensive renovation, with a state-of-the-art teaching block, IT rooms, Music Suite and Dance Studio. Headteacher Mark Wignall was appointed in September 2016. Our Amphitheatre opened in 2019 and offers the potential for multiple different uses, from outdoor lessons and school productions to rehearsal space for local amateur dramatics groups.

Downlands Community School places learning at the heart of everything that we do. It focuses on valuing the surrounding environment, preparing students for 21st-century society through innovation and creativity, and educating students socially and emotionally, while striving for self-improvement and exceeding expectations.
