Job overview

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, flexible and experienced Pupil Support Mentor to work within the Behaviour Team at this highly successful, oversubscribed ‘Good’ (Ofsted 2014) school with ‘Outstanding Behaviour and Safety’. We strive to nurture growth and develop every individual within our school, pupils and staff work together to ensure that not only is hard work expected and rewarded, but that there is enjoyment to be experienced along the way.

You will need:

  • Take a lead role in managing and delivering pastoral support to pupils
  • Contribute to the provision for pupils excluded from, or otherwise not working to, a normal timetable
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of students to determine those in need of particular help
  • To support pupils with transition between key stages
  • To have a ‘can do’ philosophy
  • Experience of working with pupils with additional needs
  • Strong behaviour management skills, ensuring calm and quiet movement of pupils around the building
  • Have knowledge of effective intervention programmes and the use of restorative practices
  • To be able to organise and lead on a range of events to raise pupils’ aspirations such as assemblies, training sessions, celebrations and transition events
  • To be able to support teaching staff by collaborating in planning, evaluating and adjusting learning activities as appropriate
  • To be able to prepare documentation for liaising with other stakeholders involved in the pastoral care of pupils both within and outside the school
