Rosendale Primary School

Rosendale is a Community Primary School and is part of Lambeth Education Authority. The school originally opened in 1898 as a combined Junior and Infant School. Later, it operated as two separate schools, one for children aged 3 – 7 and one for children from 7 – 11. In January 1998 the two schools were merged together again to form one school. We are now responsible for the education of approximately 700 children from nursery age until they are ready to transfer to secondary school. Our Children’s Centre cares for 38 children.

The buildings of Rosendale Primary School are contained in grounds which cover a large area. There have been many renovations and additions to the school buildings over the years, the latest being the new Sports and Arts Building which also houses the administrative offices. The school has a purpose-built Nursery which contains the amenities for high quality nursery education. It offers places for 52 part-time pupils aged 3½ and over. The main school is three form entry with up to 90 children in each year group and is arranged into:Early Years – four Reception classes and three Year 1 classes, plus the Nursery, led by a Deputy HeadteacherMiddle Years – three Year 2 classes, three Year 3 classes and three Year 4 classes, led by another Deputy HeadteacherUpper Years – three Year 5 classes and three Year 6 classes led by the third Deputy Headteacher. Each class contains boys and girls of mixed ability.
