Rugeley School is an independent residential school for children with Autism from the age of 5-19 years. Our school, which opened in May 2000, stands at the forefront in the education of children with Autism.
We require a Qualified Teacher or NQT to lead a class of students in all curriculum subjects. The role also involves personal care. The ideal candidate will have an interest in English.
This is a physically demanding role and staff will also need to have the emotional resilience to deal with the challenging behaviours that autism can present. Due to the location of our School having access to a car would be beneficial.
The role will involve managing and working within a team of experienced and positive Teaching Assistants. Our young people are eager to learn and enjoy accessing school and the local community.
This post will suit a professional individual who is prepared to work flexibly in a vibrant, caring and supportive educational environment. The successful candidate will develop, plan and deliver the required level and standard of education to our students through creative application of professional knowledge and teaching techniques.
The post holder will be involved with the following:-
- Teaching a class of pupils ensuring that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs
- Maintaining the positive ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside the classroom
- Distributing timely and accurate reports to all stakeholders including SLT, Governors and parent/carers.
The working hours of this role are Monday - Wednesday 8.30am - 4.30pm, Thursday 8.30am - 5.00pm, Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm.

Rugeley provide a personalised approach to learning and believe in 'Making every second count!' for our young people. Class groups have a maximum of 6 young people with 1:1 staff ratio's.
For all roles we require a minimum of two references. References provided must cover the last 3 years, for all of our services we will need to request all references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults. Please be advised that references may be requested prior to interview for roles within our schools.
