Maharishi Free School is situated in West Lancashire, north-west England in proximity to both Liverpool and Greater Manchester.

It is a wonderful place to be – a dynamic learning environment combined with a harmonious atmosphere where children aged from 4 – 16 receive the uniquely effective system of Consciousness-based Education. The school is built over two sites, primary and secondary each with a Deputy Head.

Our Reception classroom is situated in a purpose-built building within its own play area and with access to the nearby eco-garden within the primary phase site.  The primary phase is situated in a beautifully converted traditional stone building overlooking the glorious West Lancashire countryside.

Creativity and intelligence are systematically developed with a few minutes of Transcendental Meditation (TM) at the beginning and end of the school day. Scientific research – based upon more than 200 studies - has shown that the experience of restful alertness during TM brings balance to the whole physiology, making learning both enjoyable and successful.

Maharishi School is a non-religious, non-denominational school. We welcome pupils of all religious faiths and of no faith. Many major religions are represented within our current pupil population. At Maharishi School we follow the national curriculum.

The children are organised into one class per year group (max 20 pupils per year). Each class has a cross section of children within the year group and the children are taught in mixed ability classes.

The children’s work has broadly similar content, though the work is differentiated to provide appropriate support for children who find the work more challenging and also additional challenge for the more able within the classes.

Maharishi School is a very popular school and has been over-subscribed for the past three years.
