Fixed-term one-year maternity cover contract

Start date: 24th April 2023

For an exceptional candidate we would consider waiting for a September 2023 start.

Our fabulous Reception class teacher is going on maternity leave at Easter and we are looking for another fabulous Reception teacher to cover while she is away.

We are initially recruiting for a one-year maternity cover contract from the beginning of the summer term 2023 for three terms depending on candidate. There may be an opportunity to extend this contract after Easter 2024.

We are looking for an excellent, enthusiastic teacher to join the committed staff team in our happy, busy and thriving school. We have a very settled Reception class who are making brilliant progress and who join in with all the activities in our school. We also have an excellent school direct trainee working in our Reception class this year who knows our Reception children very well and is gradually taking over responsibility for more of the teaching week – the successful maternity cover teacher would need to work alongside and support our trainee for the summer term.

If you want to find out more about our school, please take a look at our website or come to visit us. Current staff members would be happy to talk to applicants about working at Christ Church.

We can offer you:

  • well-behaved, enthusiastic and high-attaining children
  • supportive colleagues, leadership, parents and Governors
  • a small, friendly one-form-entry school with a strong community feeling
  • opportunities to get involved in our unique Arts Project
  • a location close to Hampstead village, tube station and Hampstead Heath
  • the opportunity to take on subject leadership of a curriculum area, if appropriate, and opportunities for professional development at all levels of experience

The successful teacher will:

  • ideally have Reception class teaching experience
  • be an excellent teacher with the ability to ensure all children make impressive progress
  • have very good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work positively, professionally and flexibly in our busy team
  • be able to support the Christian ethos and vision of our school

Please contact the school office for more information or to arrange a tour with the head teacher – we strongly encourage prospective applicants to visit our school.

Please download the application pack from our website at www.christchurchschool.co.uk/aboutschool/vacancies

and return it by email to the school by the closing date.

The successful candidate will be expected to undergo an enhanced DBS check and other pre-employment checks. Please see our safeguarding document for more details.

In line with KCSIE 2022 and safer recruitment practices, the school will conduct an online search for all shortlisted candidates. The online search is part of our safeguarding checks and will seek publicly available information on candidates’ suitability to work with children.

Christ Church School is an equal opportunities employer.

Closing date for applications: 9am, Monday 23rd January 2023

Interviews: week beginning 30th January 2023
