Job overview

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated School Receptionist and Administrator to support our school community. We require an articulate, organised and well-presented individual to provide an efficient and effective reception and administration service at our school.

You will be the first point of contact for all visitors and prospective families and, as such, a professional, customer-focused approach is essential. You will have excellent written, face-to-face and telephone communication skills. You should have experience of working in a fast-paced environment and should be able to demonstrate an ability to prioritise your workload and complete administration tasks to a high level of accuracy. A sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required. Experience of working in a school environment and with a school Management Information System is not essential but would be an advantage.

We pride ourselves on individual education with a family ethos. We are based in Romsey on grounds of approximately 22 acres with enviable facilities including woodland, wetland, a natural pond, riding arena, a small farm, as well as the traditional playing fields and a full-size sports hall. In addition, the school shares off-site facilities with the senior school normally unavailable at this level – a 35-acre sports ground, Outdoor Education Centre in Dartmoor National Park, and exclusive use of a sailing club on Southampton Water. The school is committed to Learning Outside the Classroom and has been awarded Silver status by the LOtC.

Further details and an application form for this post are available from our website: https://www.stroud-kes.org.uk/job-opportunities or email: hr@kes.hants.sch.uk

CVs are not an acceptable alternative to the application form.

Closing date: 9.00am on 11 November 2019.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with the Disclosure & Barring Service and past employers (where applicable).

Stroud, King Edward VI Preparatory School, is a thriving and happy co-ed independent school for pupils from Nursery to Year 6, and is the feeder school to King Edward VI, Southampton. The prep school enjoys the many benefits of being part of a 3-18 organisation whilst retaining a unique identity as a rural school with a strong family feel.

Our ethos is to nurture and support our pupils, so that they flourish and exceed their expectations in their learning, interests, relationships and emotional development. Our goal is that they become intellectually curious, resilient, confident and ready for their next steps.

Pupils have access to a wide range of high quality learning resources at Stroud including a well-stocked library, science laboratory, IT suites, cookery, art, technology and music rooms. Interactive whiteboards, iPads, virtual reality headsets and green screens also enhance pupils’ learning.

Stroud is a warm and welcoming place to work and develop as an individual and leader. We encourage staff to take on positions of responsibility and value our staff highly for going above and beyond to support the wider life of the school.

Due to our rural location we cannot easily be accessed by public transport, so staff do need their own transport. On site parking is available.

Stroud School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
