Job overview

Leigh Academies Trust’s Recruitment Team, part of the wider HR Department, is responsible for delivering a fully centralised recruitment service that all LAT academies and partner organisations benefit from. We are expanding our team and have a fantastic opportunity to appoint a Recruitment Administrator who will join us for the new year (January 2023) - the seventh member of our team!  Click here to meet the existing Recruitment Team.

Who is suitable for this role?  As this role is offered as an apprenticeship, we don’t require our successful candidate to have any prior experience in recruitment, rather we are looking to appoint someone who is a real people-person, strives to go over and above to help people and is keen to learn a range of new skills.  We’re hiring for the right attitude - this is so important to us.  You’ll work towards completing a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification In Business Administration delivered by LAT Apprenticeships. Click here to read more about the apprenticeship programme. For this role, the off-the-job training is delivered online (there is no requirement to attend day or block release at a different location).

Working alongside our two Recruitment Administrators, the main purpose of your role will be to support the Trust’s Recruitment Team with all areas of recruitment administration, acting as a main point of contact for initial enquiries and supporting candidates through the recruitment journey. Each Recruitment Administrator is allocated a specific group of academies, meaning you will get to know the key hiring managers incredibly well and build strong working relationships.

You will provide support across the full recruitment cycle, selection process and on-boarding process, ensuring that we offer a first-class candidate experience that is efficient, professional and informative. You will work with and support all members of the Recruitment Team on different projects and tasks, and regularly liaise with members of the HR Team.  You will be working with a variety of stakeholders on a daily basis; this is a broad and varied role so an open and positive mind-set is essential.

The role is based at Leigh Academies Trust Head Office in Strood, Rochester.  LAT has adopted a hybrid approach for Head Office staff with 4 days being based in the office and one day working from home - the day from home for this role is a Wednesday.  The working basis of the role is 37 hours per week throughout the full year; Monday - Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm (with an early finish of 4.00pm on Fridays and during school holidays).

Our successful candidate will receive;

  • A starting salary of £12,500 per annum whilst on the 18-month apprenticeship programme, increasing to a minimum of £19,788 thereafter
  • 25 days annual leave per annum plus bank holidays, which increases to 30 days with length of service
  • Further career development and training opportunities to suit your needs and career objectives
  • A full range of benefits, available to all LAT employees (click here to view)

Please contact the Recruitment Team if you have any questions about the role – talent@latrust.org.uk. Note that all applications must be submitted electronically via our e-recruitment system; we cannot accept CVs or speculative emails outside of this system.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st September 2022, our Trust comprises 30 geographically organised academies (14 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating 20,000 students, and employing 3,000 talented staff. The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training organisations, a large teaching school hub and is an accredited apprenticeship provider. Our future plans are found in our Vision 2030 document available on our website.

As part of Leigh Academies Trust, you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust. This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together. You are supported to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

Our commitment to safeguarding: Leigh Academies Trust and all of our academies are committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils, and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We adopt a fair, robust and consistent recruitment process across all academies and business units which is inline with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. This includes online checks for shortlisted candidates - you can read more about this in our Recruitment Guidance. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check.

Our commitment to equality and diversity: As a Trust, we are passionate about diversity and recognise that as individuals, we all bring something unique to the role regardless of any protected characteristics which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise. We are committed to providing equality and fairness throughout our recruitment and employment practices and not discriminating on any grounds.

About Leigh Academies Trust

Leigh Academies Trust is one of the country’s largest and most-established multi-academy trusts operating across Kent, Medway and South East London. It contains primary, secondary and special academies and is highly inclusive and successful. Our mission is to deliver “education for a better world” by ensuring that young people in our academies have an excellent start in life regardless of their background or ability.

We are a non-profit making charitable company, based in Strood, Medway. The Trust exists to support and assist schools to build upon their existing strengths and to help them achieve rapid educational transformation. It has significant experience in running schools, and today includes both sponsored academies and schools which have chosen to convert to academy status.

The Trust was formed in 2008 with the linking of the Leigh Technology Academy and Longfield Academy under one governing body. Today, we encompass more than 20,000 students between the ages of 2 months and 19 in over 30 primary, secondary and special academies including one all-through academy and one grammar school.

In addition to providing high-quality educational opportunities for all of our children, aged from 2 months to 19 years, and their families, we are proud to provide many opportunities for lifelong learning.  These are delivered through the organisations under our umbrella: Thames Gateway Teaching School Hub, LAT Apprenticeships and Kent and Medway Training (KMT), which delivers routes into teaching. Our future plans are found in our Vision 2030 document available on our website.
