Job overview

Thank you for expressing an interest in the role of Regional Director of Education at Cognita, Middle East and India. There are not many jobs like this in the education world. It really is a position where you can make an incredible difference; a difference to children, to colleagues and to our community of schools on a larger scale.

This information pack should provide a good level of detail, but if you have questions, then please do be in touch. Later in the pack you will find a role profile and specification which will help you consider whether the role is right for you. Whilst the role profile is important to help guide our decision making, I would like to be clear about the type of person we are looking to recruit.

The core duty of the Regional Director of Education is to support our schools to be the ‘best at getting better’. Building strong relationships with school leaders, governors, regulators and, of course, our families, is central to the success of this role. You will model professional humility, be a natural collaborator and be relentless in the pursuit of excellence. You will know what it takes to support schools in becoming ‘self-improving’, going the extra mile to support colleagues and our families when they need it the most. We don’t get everything right all the time, but we have an incredible work ethic and determination to do the best for our schools.

Each Regional Director of Education makes up a team of global Directors of Education. Under the strategic guidance of the Group Education Director, you will play a significant part in the overall educational direction of Cognita and its 100+ schools, worldwide.

The job is complex but is in essence the lead educator in the region. This privilege comes with significant responsibility to model the values and behaviours that we expect of each and every school leader. The Regional Director of Education plays the key role in leading governance processes, school improvement and the implementation of the Cognita-wide education strategy in the region. In addition, the Regional Director of Education will be involved in the due diligence leading to the acquisition of new schools.

Cognita is a global leader in independent education. Founded in 2004, we are a growing community of 100+ schools in 16 countries - in Europe, America, Asia, and the Middle East - serving more than 75,000 pupils. Each of our schools are proudly unique, however our collective purpose is to create an environment where everyone can, ‘Thrive in a rapidly evolving world’. See www.cognita.com to find out more about the Cognita community.

THRIVE IN A RAPIDLY EVOLVING WORLD

Each of our schools is as individual as its students, but we all share one common purpose: to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. We do this by sharing expertise, insights and best practice across our global family – and by collaborating to develop rich learning environments in every school.

We equip young people with the self-belief and international perspective they need to grow, thrive and find their success in a fast-changing world.

Culture of care

Self-assured, resilient and empowered to succeed. These principles represent our ambition for every child in the Cognita family. Our uncompromising culture of care ensures the safety and wellbeing of all children is at the heart of every Cognita school. This includes the security of our learning environments, the emotional wellbeing of our students, the rigorous vetting of our staff, and robust policies, procedures and training in child safeguarding.

Every Cognita school has an independently chaired safeguarding committee and we continually monitor and assess all of our schools to ensure we go above and beyond what is required by regulators
