Job overview

Are you a successful primary principal? Passionate about transforming young people’s lives? This could be your next challenge.

We are seeking an ambitious leader with a recent track record of impact to help us drive improvements across our primary schools. You will bring a detailed understanding of school improvement, including expertise in curriculum, teaching and inclusion. The role will partly be based at Meadstead Primary Academy, working alongside our existing Head of School, providing support and challenge to a school with high levels of potential. You will also provide school improvement support across a group of schools within the region, working with our Regional Education Director in the North.

We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate a sustained impact on school performance including pupil outcomes. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to develop, motivate and empower people and teams, and work with agility.

Our primary schools in the North are part of a national network of schools at AET, brought together by the belief that each and every child has an entitlement to an excellent education in every classroom, every day. An excellent education transforms lives and every pupil who attends one of our schools should be given the support, care and opportunity they need to flourish. We leverage our scale to support all our teachers, leaders and young people to be the best they can be.

You will be joining one of the largest and most inclusive trusts in the country. We have a flourishing group of primary schools within our network, supported by our Regional Education Directors. This role is an opportunity to take on the executive leadership of a school on an improvement journey, whilst supporting our wider region, within a trust that really values and celebrates their primary school provision.

It's an exciting time to join us. We are committed to building sustainable excellence at scale; we are on an upward trajectory, but our ambitions for the future mean there is still much more to do.

If you are a dedicated and driven leader, interested in scale, curious to learn how to build sustainable excellence, excited by the combination of unparalleled challenge and intensive opportunities for personal and professional development then get in touch.

AET was established in 2008 and is now a national network of 57 primary, secondary and special academies. We are proud of our diverse and inclusive network of schools which span nearly every region in the country.

This is a hugely exciting time to be joining the organisation, and as we pivot from being in turnaround mode to becoming a high performance organisation on the pathway to sustainable excellence.
