A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic regionally based professional to join STEM Learning.

Through a deep understanding of local need our Regional Network Leads are integral to the local STEM and school improvement landscape. Their role is to establish and deliver a strategy to support the specific economic, social and educational needs of their regions.

You will have the opportunity to drive forward the engagement of teachers, support staff, schools and colleges with STEM-specific professional development, resources and careers support across and beyond a designated region. You will lead and help build capability, capacity and reach of STEM Ambassadors, Science Learning Partnerships and Computing Hubs in your region.

You will work with employers and other regional partners to impact positively on young people’s engagement with and enthusiasm for STEM subjects, contributing to raising aspirations and educational standards, closing the achievement gap between schools and ultimately enabling more young people to pursue STEM-related education and careers.

We are seeking a self-motivated professional with a positive, enthusiastic and mature approach to their work. Your proven track record of engaging with STEM education across a wide range of education settings and business sectors, along with excellent all round communication and influencing skills will enable you to further develop and maintain support for STEM Learning’s programmes in the region.

Experience of developing and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders alongside managing complex projects to budget and deadlines will be the key to your success.

This role will be home based with extensive regional travel including regular travel to York and London with over-night stays.

About us

The successful candidate will join a highly professional, progressive organisation whose mission is to achieve a world-leading STEM education for all young people across the UK.

The National STEM Learning Centre and Network is a key UK resource for supporting STEM teaching and learning through provision of CPD, resources, online communities in partnership with a wide range of organisations and individuals. This includes driving forward ongoing development of the STEM Ambassadors and STEM Clubs programmes alongside subject-specific support for all involved in the teaching of science, technology, engineering and mathematics to young people.

Remuneration and benefits

The role is home based and your region will be defined accordingly. The role is full time (37hrs). Salary £45k - £55k dependent on experience. Appointment to this role enables access to the USS pension scheme, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays and a wide range of staff benefits.
