Job overview

Altrincham Preparatory School is a successful and thriving independent preparatory day school in the heart of Trafford.  It is an all-boys school with currently around 300 pupils from ages 2 to 11.  Established in 1936, we are proud of our heritage.

We care about each individual boy and pride ourselves in the warmth of our community.  You will find our boys feel valued and that we expect the highest standards from all.  Our boys are to be imbued with self-awareness, confidence in their own abilities, resilience and independence of thought and are taught to be strong enough to stand up not only for themselves but also for a greater purpose.

We are looking to appoint a professional, experienced and adaptable personal assistant who will also be responsible for managing and overseeing the School’s admissions process. The successful candidate will have outstanding interpersonal, literacy and IT skills.  This is a varied and demanding role, in addition to providing administrative support to the Headmaster you will be the first point of contact for visitors and parents to the School, acting as an ambassador for both the School and the Headmaster.

The post attracts a starting salary of £25,000 per annum (including holiday pay) and is offered on a term time only plus 5 additional working weeks basis.

If you feel that you hold the same values as us and possess the attributes that dovetail with the above position then we shall be delighted to hear from you.

Applications should be made by completing the School’s standard application form (CVs alone will not be accepted) and submitted along with a covering letter addressed to Mr Nick Vernon, Headmaster.  Please email applications to vacancies@altprep.co.uk.

Closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 4 February. Interviews will take place on Wednesday 9 February.  If you have not been contacted by the interview date, you may assume that your application has been unsuccessful.

Altrincham Preparatory School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

APS is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
