About Kent College, Canterbury

The pleasant red-brick buildings of Kent College are situated in a semi-rural position overlooking the beautiful cathedral city of Canterbury. The school sits in 80 acres (32 hectares) of land with extensive sports’ fields, a School Farm and a Riding Centre. The centre of Canterbury, with its wide selection of shops and restaurants is a 5-minute journey by car, while the school sports' fields back on to Blean Woods, one of the largest areas of ancient woodland in England. Pupils get the best of both worlds – a healthy, safe environment close to beautiful countryside, but with easy access to Canterbury’s excellent facilities including theatres, cinemas and its world-heritage cathedral.

Since its foundation in 1885, the School has always excelled in the academic, musical and sporting spheres. However, Kent College Canterbury is probably best known for its exceptionally caring atmosphere where students from all faiths, countries and background thrive in a safe, friendly and caring environment. The School has an outstanding reputation for bringing out the best in every pupil and achieving excellent academic results. The sporting facilities are first class and include an all-weather artificial hockey pitch, which is converted for tennis use in the summer. A well-resourced Dyslexia Unit gives specialist teaching to students with this particular need.

Kent College is a happy, caring and successful school in which pupils feel supported and encouraged to aim for high standards of achievement and conduct.  The school was inspected by the Independent School Inspectorate in October 2022 and was found to be excellent and compliant in all aspects.

In August 2016 Kent College opened a 3-18 school in Dubai, and in September 2022 the primary stages of Kent College West Cairo accepted its first students.

Summer 2019 brought the opening of a state-of-the-art 600-seater auditorium, The Great Hall. The hall is used by the whole school for worship and as a versatile and practical space for the college’s highly regarded drama and music departments as well as for being available for use by the local community.

The boarding community includes students from over 40 countries, and a particular strength is the International Study Centre, where students whose English language skills need development can receive specialist teaching and be progressively integrated into the mainstream curriculum.
