Times Higher Education is seeking an experienced reporter to join a team covering news and features for an award-winning publication with a growing national and international audience.
Higher education is a hugely rewarding area to cover, and as one of the fastest growing industries globally, THE has ambitious plans to continue to extend its reach and influence.
Times Higher Education was founded in 1971 and, from its roots as a UK policy magazine, has developed into the world’s leading source of higher education news, analysis and data.
Headquartered in London, it continues to publish a weekly print magazine, as well as a website and app, and the World University Rankings, reaching an audience of 24 million academics, higher education professionals and students every year. Last year, it was named as the UK’s Business Magazine of the Year at the Professional Publishers Association Awards.
THE now has offices around the world, delivering a global summit series and a portfolio of data, hiring and branding products.
Who you are:
We are seeking a senior reporter with at least two years’ experience on a respected regional newspaper, a national paper or magazine, or a leading news website, who can demonstrate a strong track record in finding and breaking news stories, writing in-depth features and building strong contacts around a specified brief.
First and foremost we are seeking a talented, enthusiastic and creative journalist with a nose for a story, strong writing skills, and the drive and commitment to contribute to a hard-working team.
We would expect candidates to have an NCTJ or equivalent qualification and to be educated to degree level, but will be most interested in your track record as a journalist.
We would also expect applicants to demonstrate an ability to engage with readers as well as to source and promote stories via social media, and to work on data stories.
Prior experience covering education or research would be an advantage but is not essential.
