Main Areas of Responsibility

Your role will be:

  • To receive, sort and deal with school forms, pupil files, round robins and reports as and if required
  • To extend hospitality to visitors to the school and escort them to appropriate staff as required
  • To attend to such duties as requested by the Principal / Principal’s PA to enable the smooth running of the Academy Office when required.
  • To provide a full administrative service to the Academy Office, including general office duties including secretarial and administrative tasks.
  • To undertake Word Processing, Excel, Power Point, Filing of Records and other Secretarial & Clerical Tasks as required, including saving details and correspondence and data items to Bromcom
  • To plan and supervise the work of Central Reprographics, including photocopying, design and production of resources to support teaching and learning etc;
  • To ensuring that high standards are maintained in the production and provision of all materials, using leading edge technology;
  • To design and produce all curriculum, publicity and administrative work in Central Resources, and to have control of 'House Style';
  • To liaise with outside agencies when necessary. eg. web-site design agency;
  • To work with other staff in order to ensure high quality, relevant display throughout the academy, including student’s work;
  • To design, develop and manage internal academy communication systems including Academy Newsletter and Staff Handbook ;
  • To provide verbal and written advice to staff, students and the community regarding use, provision, development of Central Reprographics;
  • To design and produce the documentation for the celebration of achievement, eg. certificates and awards, management of the production process;
  • To contribute to overall policy and planning in the development of administration and learning resources in the Academy;
  • To maintain a tidy, purposeful and professional working environment at all times;
  • To keep accurate and up to date stock records;
  • To manage media resources that may be required by staff, ensuring equipment loaned according to academy procedure eg. CD players, projectors, screens, recorders (video or audio) etc;
  • To manage and develop the technology used across the academy for production of materials;
  • To be responsible for the income generation of Central Reprographics ensuring all reprographics are cost effective and directly enhance the quality of teaching and learning;
  • Responsible for the centre's budgets, and to organise any sale of goods and services to the academy, students and community. Keeping up to date records in line with academy procedures;

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Basic knowledge of computer applications.
  • Literacy and Numeracy to Level 2
  • Training in use of reprographics equipment
  • Experience working in a reprographics environment
  • Experience of designing and printing basic documents
  • Experience of managing a small budget
  • Experience of organising a busy service area effectively
  • Experience of liaising with printing maintenance contractors
  • Experience of maintaining a clean, tidy and well organised area
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to pay significant attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Willingness/aptitude to undertake specialist training.
  • Has the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to undertake Manual Handling duties.
  • Experience of working in an inner city school or educational establishment
  • Capacity to work with Microsoft office platforms.

The Harris Federation is a not-for-profit charity. Led and run by teachers, we established our first school over 25 years ago.

There are now more than 40 happy and highly successful primary and secondary academies in our federation. All of these are in and around London. With each school that has joined us, the expectations we set ourselves have increased.

Every Harris academy so far inspected by Ofsted is rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’, with three quarters of our inspected secondary academies judged ‘outstanding’. Our primary schools are newer, but almost half are ‘outstanding’, with the rest ‘good’.
