Job overview
Bryanston currently has an exciting opportunity for a passionate graduate to assist with Science, initially for one year.
This role would ideally suit a graduate interested in exploring the teaching profession and gaining experience in a busy co-ed boarding school.
Bryanston is a world-class co-educational full-boarding school surrounded by Dorset countryside, and provides an outstanding education for 780 pupils aged 3-18. The role will involve residing in staff accommodation and playing a central role in running the boarding house.
There is a vibrant community of staff living on site, many of whom also undertake residential boarding house duties with accommodation provided. Full induction and support will be available, and although this is an appointment for one academic year in the first instance, there may be an opportunity for the right candidate to have their employment extended as part of our in-post PGCE teacher training programme, in due course.
Bryanston offers a competitive package, including:
- Free accommodation
- Free meals
- Training and development opportunities
- Free gym membership and access to our state-of-the-art sports facilities, including a 25m indoor swimming pool
- Life assurance at 3 times salary
- Employee assistance and wellbeing support programme
- A staff benefits platform including perks and discounts, travel and lifestyle, cycle scheme and more.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School will conduct an online search of any applicant invited for interview. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
About Bryanston School
Bryanston is an independent boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18, set in a beautiful 400-acre site near Blandford Forum in Dorset. It includes Bryanston Prep School, a co-educational day and boarding prep school in the neighbouring village of Durweston.
Founded in 1928, the school aims above all to develop the all-round talents of individual pupils. A broad, flexible academic and extra-curricular programme is offered and each pupil benefits from considerable one-to-one help and guidance from a personal tutor, subject teachers and housemaster/housemistress. Bryanston aims to combine the best of the new and the old, as befits the school motto et nova et vetera.
