We’re looking for Residential Childcare Workers to join our team at Underley based in Kirkby Lonsdale. No matter your experience, whether this be in catering, hospitality, retail or care, we have the role for you! Someone who is motivated by helping others, patient and resilient would be ideal.

About the Role:

From day one, we will train and support you, ultimately developing you into a care professional. If you are successful, we will pay for your NVQ 3 in Residential Childcare which will need your commitment to complete within two years. We will also support you with further training courses such as Team Teach. 

As a Residential care worker, you will work shifts from either 14:00-22:30 or 09:00- 22:30 (School holidays/ Weekends) and will be required to attend 2 additional monthly training sessions.

During these hours you will be working with the children within their day to day lives; Cook with them, play games and do activities, help them within their day and night routines and assist with the personal care and emotional support needs the young people may have. A key responsibility is to Safeguard all who are in our care and ensure they are safe and healthy.

Other duties include liaising with other staff, working to agreed care plans and keeping the home clean and tidy.

This is a challenging and physically demanding job but highly rewarding. All of our children and young people have complex needs associated with autism, communication and learning disabilities. They can present with complex communication needs and challenging behaviour associated with their disability. You will be extensively trained in how to support our young people positively and how to intervene and de-escalate situations as required.


Essential criteria:

You must be willing to partake in physical intervention training and utilize this training if you need to.

You must be able to get to the site for shifts with ease. A driving licence is desirable in order to support young people to access activities and home visits.
