About the school:

Falkland House School is an independent residential school for boys from primary to aged 18 years.  Our pupils have a range of Additional Support Needs including emotional and behavioural difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Disorders.

We were the first independent school in Scotland (outside of the NAS) to receive accreditation from the National Autistic Society.

The school also prides itself on achieving excellent Care Inspectorate reports

About the role:

You will be required to work shifts from either 7.30am to 3.30pm or 2pm to 10pm including school holidays and weekends. During these hours you will be working with the children within their day to day lives, doing activities with them and providing any emotional support they may require. 

A key responsibility is to safeguard all who are in our care and ensure they are safe and healthy.

Although knowledge of Autistic Spectrum Disorder is advantageous this role doesn’t require experience as training will be given, just an individual who is friendly, compassionate, resilient, active, and calm under pressure and who has the desire to learn and work with children and young people with complex needs.

We are also open to interviewing candidates who hold other skills or qualifications which are versatile and can be aligned to this type of work. If successful you will be required to register with the SSSC and will be given up to 5 years to successfully complete the necessary qualifications for doing this job, the minimum requirement is SVQ 3 and HNC in Social Care (SCQF level 7). You can receive funding for this through SAAS and NFA. 

Key responsibilities:

• Provide a safe, caring and healthy environment where children can thrive and develop independence.
• To record details of incidents etc. as required by policy and procedure.
• Liaising with staff, working to agreed care plans. This is a challenging and physically demanding job but highly rewarding. 
• Driver of manual vehicles essential.
