Acorn Care and Education provide education and care across 20 schools and 19 residential children’s homes nationally. Our vision is to build incredible futures by empowering vulnerable young people in the UK to be happy and to make their way in the world. Every day we improve the lives of thousands of young people, their families and communities through a relentless focus on caring and learning.

We are also open to interviewing candidates who hold other skills or qualifications which are versatile and can be aligned to this type of work. If successful you will be required to register with the SSSC and will be given up to 5 years to successfully complete the necessary qualifications for doing this job, the minimum requirement is SVQ 3 and HNC in Social Care (SCQF level 7). You can receive funding for this through SAAS and NFA.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, caring and healthy environment where children can thrive and develop independence.
  • To record details of incidents etc. as required by policy and procedure.
  • Liaising with staff, working to agreed care plans. This is a challenging and physically demanding job but highly rewarding.
  • Driver of manual vehicles essential.
